In February 2023, the Attorney-General’s Department released the Privacy Act Review Report 2022, signalling significant changes on the horizon for how personal information is protected and controlled in Australia. These proposed reforms are part of a broader effort by the Federal Government to enhance online safety.

With the first tranche of reforms introduced into the House of Representatives in September 2024, it’s clear that such large scale reforms are going to be difficult to rollout In unison and increasingly likely to be phased or part of a continued evolution of changes.
